Roofing fiberglass is a composite material based on polyester resins, which are reinforced with fiberglass. The proportions are selected in such a way as to ensure minimum weight with maximum strength and flexibility. When performing the work independently, you need to consider:
• The slope of the roof should be at least 10-12 degrees. Otherwise, an increased static pressure is created on the surface, which negatively affects the service life of the building material.
• Laying is carried out on a crate made of metal or wood. It is necessary that the sheets overlap each other by 7-15 cm (1-2 waves).
• To avoid the formation of four-layer corners, the sheet material is offset by ½ sheet.
• Fastening is performed with special roofing screws in every third wave or every 25-30 cm. In order to avoid possible cracking of the material, holes are first drilled in it, the diameter of which is 2-4 mm larger than the fastener used.
• If there are extra protruding parts, they can be sawed off by yourself using a saw with fine teeth, electric jigsaw, grinder. In order for the design to meet the parameters of economy, durability, etc., it is necessary to observe the order and correctness of the installation stages:
• Creation of a frame made of wood or metal. Transparent reinforced slate can be attached to any material, unlike asbestos-cement. For reliable fastening, it is recommended to make the distance between the logs 40-80 cm, depending on the thickness of the material. This will make it possible to eliminate "sag" of the sheet, reduce the load on it.
• At a distance of 25-40 cm from each other, it is necessary to make through holes for installation, choosing a drill of the required diameter. This is done for the purpose of reliable fastening to the crate with the help of self-tapping screws.
• A sheet of transparent slate is attached to the metal construction of the frame, in which holes are made opposite to those made in metal. • Fixing of the slate is carried out at the top of the wave, if it is present, by screwing the sheet with special bolts with a rubber gasket (precludes damage to the material by metalwork, prevents the possible flow of atmospheric precipitation).
