Monk-nun tile is one of the most ancient forms of tile.
The production of such shingles did not require special forms, and the shape of the craftsman's knee determined the characteristic bend of each shingle blank. The lower tiles were called nuns, and the upper tiles covering the joint between the two lower ones were called monks.

Such tiles are also called grooved.
The absence of grooves in this tile allows you to use it on spherical, conical and other curved surfaces.
Ordinary tiles are usually used as ridge and end elements for this model, which allows you to get a relatively inexpensive total estimate in the end, despite the higher cost per square meter than other models.
The weight of the monk-nuns, which is greater than that of the other models, imposes slightly higher requirements on the load-bearing capacity of the rafters, and the absence of grooves on the waterproofing of the roof.
Umbelino Monk-nun tile (Canudo) is produced in the largest variety of colors and coatings on the Ukrainian market, compared to other competitors (natural, engobe, glaze).
